You're right about the save file format-I tried to hex edit my character file and was totally defeated. Ugh, I wouldn't want to try to run them under Win 10. Yeah, that's right.I do recall the trainers now. I don't think anyone ever bothered to figure out the save file format well enough to make a tool that could edit your character directly in the saved file.ĭepending on how you want to cheat, you may be better off using DevilutionX and finding/making a modified game that does what you want, rather than trying to modify your character in the retail game engine. At least some of them work poorly, if at all, under modern Windows due to their reliance on deficiencies in Windows 9x.Īs far as I recall, all such tools required you to have the game open and your character loaded, and would then facilitate changing the loaded character. Prior to patch 1.09, Diablo save game files were named dlinfo0.drv, dlinfo1.drv, etc and were hidden files located in the Windows folder which were tied to the workgroup name of the computer. They were sometimes confusingly called "trainers", despite that they didn't train you for anything. The naming format is: multi0.sv, multi1.sv, etc for multi-player and single0.sv, single1.sv, etc for single player. I never used them, and I don't know where you would find them now. Advowson: At one time, such tools existed. ![]()
